1lb Naval Swivel Gun

A very impressive and stout 1lb barrel, mounted on a swivelling yoke, with a hand forged tiller arm.
The touch hole of this barrel was spiked (hardened spike peened into the vent) on arrival - which has been carefully removed, leaving the vent clear, and the bore free from obstructions all the way to the breech. Vents were often spiked when guns were removed from military service, to hinder their use should they fall into the wrong hands. 
The barrel is of a mid to late 18th century shape, with a depressed vent pan, and mid barrel trunnions. The barrel is 73cm long, and 116cm total length with the tiller. The bore measures 2 inches. 
The yoke is solidly made, which splits into 2 x equal parts, held together by a tight fitting collar. The stem at the base of the yoke makes it possible to mount this barrel into any surface with a 45mm hole bored. 
An impressive and rare piece, which would suit any keen naval collector.
