Dragoon Officers Pistol
A circa 1790's dragoon pistol, by the famous Durs Egg of London.
These pistols were popular private purchases for British cavalry officers, on account of their excellent quality and reliability.
The pistol is 15" in length, with a very stout 9" barrel, clear all the way to the breech, with a good touch hole.
The lock has a crown over GR cypher, and is signed "D.Egg". The barrel has London proof stamps, and the faint script "Durs Egg London" along the top.
The lock functions well, and holds half & full cock - with strong main & frizzen springs.
The pistol may have been re-stocked at some point in its life, as the woodwork bears fewer scars than the brass furniture.
An overall nice collectors piece, from the Napoleonic wars.
