East India Company New Land Pattern Pistol
A nice walnut stocked new land pattern design of pistol, built for use by the East India company. This design of pistol was subsequently adopted by the British army, as the new land pattern pistol.
The lock bears the lion insignia of the East East India company, with British proof stamps to the lock and barrel. The stock has the letter 'B' stamped in two places, possibly denoting company usage.
The wood has some old surface cracks, shrinkage and small areas of loss, but is in solid condition. The lock has string springs, and an excellent full & half cock. The swivel ram rod is complete and functional, with a good bore and brass furniture.
A very pretty piece of military history, from the golden age of empire.
