French 10 bore Obsolete centrefire shotgun
Here we have a stunning obsolete 10 bore centrefire shotgun, manufactured in St Etienne France, in the latter part of the 19th Century. Chambered for 2 7/8" cartridges, this piece is obsolete, and a very rare opportunity to own this type of shotgun.
The barrels are beautifully made of Damascus steel, covered with a superb plumb brown finish. The piece has got a very crisp action, with strong springs, a good ejector, and good lockup of the barrels and fore-end. The steel fore-end is nicely engraved, but has suffered some shallow pitting to one side at some point in it's past. The walnut stock is free from cracks, with only minor bruising, and nice chequering.
With matching part numbers, this rare and collossal beast really would make a superb wall hanger. Barrel length 77cm, total length 118cm.
