R.M. Grey London 8 bore S x S Shotgun
A humungous, and very impressive 8 bore shotgun, my R.M. Grey of London. With 36 1/4 " barrels, and 137cm overall length, this is likely a big game hunting gun, from the late Victorian era.
The barrels are Damascus steel (not twist), with the majority of their plum browning remaining, with excellent bores (very few blemishes).
The woodwork has got some minor knicks in places, and a small crack under each of the lockplates - although the woodwork seems to be plenty stable enough. The barrels lock up nicely, with crisp rebounding hammers, and an excelent action. Lots of British proof marks, signifying choked barrels, and original BP proofing. The top rib is named "R.M. Grey & Co London".
